Give the demo a world and if you get some positive vibes, or not, feel free to drop over at the Planet Centauri Kickstarter page to show your support or to share some feedback. Nonetheless, it’s a great game in the making. Planet Centauri is a well-crafted game at its core, and the fact that it still needs to figure some things out, well, that’s something all games go through. The game features tons of good stuff, and once it’s complete, it will thrill a lot of people, that’s for sure. None the less, the fighting is very one sided when it comes to the thrill, there’s almost none of it, in the beginning at least.
I’d like you see you fighting a mutant in your house and not breaking at least one chair. However, this is not in all honesty a design flaw. The game uses the same game engine as Civilization II and builds on it to create a similar but also innovative new experience. Building is easy enough, except for when it comes to placing doors this game seriously needs to implement a tutorial for the sandbox newcomers.įighting in your house is nice and a lot of the time you’ll find yourself destroying your own furniture. Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri takes place in the 22 nd century and presents players with 7 different (and competing) factions as they land on the planet Chiron, which is part of the Alpha Centauri star system.
It’s almost epic, but it also needs a lot of workįrom the demo, you’ll get to see how good the game looks and handles, and how annoying it can get. It takes a lot of work and exploration but no one really complains about a sandbox game being too big. You start off digging in the dirt and can end up shooting fireballs or driving a badass robot with large caliber bullets and rocket launchers. Fans have also been noticing the similarities in the gameplay, which isn’t shocking since both of them are 2D adventure role-playing games, there are bound for some overlapping to take place. The most impressive thing about Planet Centauri is the evolution feature. Fans of both Planet Centauri and Terraria have been vocal about the similar aspects of both games, debating which is better. There are also some strange boxes that can be found lying on the ground and you can open them only after you kill a certain number of hostiles. Digging and chopping trees are as standard as they get but along the way, in a short time, you start to see the game branch out to different ideas.įor example, chopping off a zombie’s head allows you to wear it, mostly for fashion reasons. You’re left on a planet, alone, accompanied only by an axe and a pickaxe, with which you start to build your survival strategy. Planet Centauri is, at first, the rudimentary 2D sandbox game.
The standard things plus new and very cool stuff
It rocks very good pixel art graphics, crafting, tough monsters to fight and gameplay to which in-depth seems to be an understatement. After crash landing on planet Centauri its your job to build homes, craft weapons and spells, farm land, and capture monsters to create a colorful new society for your NPC inhabitants.
